My mom did a good job writing about me for three years but she kept saying when I was ready I had to do it. Well, I am. So now it’s my turn to write about myself. I hope you like reading what I write. It won’t be as long as my mom’s but that might be a good thing! (Just kidding Mom) Well first of all let me tell you about me. I LOVE the musical Wicked and so that is where the quote on my banner, ”Changed for good” comes from. My mom and I used to sing that song together all the time. And now it’s more true than ever. And as weird as it sounds I’m a little obsessed with my fiancé Chris Medina. Actually it’s not that weird and it’s not just a little.
Since its Valentine’s Day I thought it would be appropriate that I share something with you that I wrote about Chris a very long time ago that I still feel today.
I wrote this in April 2009 and posted it on my Facebook page and called it ‘My Public Love Note to Chris Medina’. It was true then but it is more true now, especially the part about relationships being hard and having ups and downs. I am one of the lucky ones.
Here it is:
“So as most of us already know, relationships are HARD and can really have their ups and downs. They're quite the balancing act between what you need and want and what you can and are willing to deal with what you don't...
I'm choosing to focus on the positive right now. These are the things that will keep me loving Chris Medina the rest of my life:
<3 he is an awesome cook. That goes very far in my book
<3 I know I can truly trust him. There's a huge difference in wanting to believe you have that in someone and actually KNOWING it's there.
<3 he's a hard worker
<3 even after almost 7 years, (almost 11 years now) he still compliments me every day and really makes me feel attractive and appreciated by him
<3 he doesn't get jealous even though I do...
<3 he doesn't hold THAT against me
<3 he accepts the difficulty that is me for who I am...this is a big one, I don't think I could count on many people doing this the way he does
<3 let's face it-the guy can rock!
<3 I believe the combination of Chris and I will make for good parents...we'll see...
<3 he is genuinely interested in my own personal happiness outside of our relationship and encourages me to go out and do the things that make me happy and will improve my life
<3 my family loves him like their own and vice versa
<3 he never rushes me when I'm taking forever to get ready
<3 I secretly like that he sucks at surprises because it just assures me even more that he's a pretty terrible liar and trickster.
<3 I love being with someone who's passionate about what they do
<3 he always brings me home iced coffee from work
<3 he watches American Idol with me and pretends to be as interested as I am (Now THAT’S funny)
<3 he's a man's man but not a...stupid…"testosterony"...guy trying to seem manly...ya know?
<3 he gives me a new, different compliment every time I do my nails (I know that's small, but it really makes me happy when I get to present them to him)
<3 The voice! The voice had me from day one. (Well...day two anyway :) Not only his obviously brilliant singing voice but just the nature of his speaking voice gets me
<3 he's got my favorite head of hair to cut-even though the second my hands get on it he quickly head bobs his way into sleepy land
<3 the two of us just so happen to agree on almost every major issue that could be deal breakers if we didn't (religion, family and parenting, the environment, politics...)
<3 he has a beautiful last name that I will proudly be taking later this year :)
Ok so that last one is still on hold but I am happy because he is still my fiance!
