It’s been so long since my last blog, so I finally got around to writing one! There are a few things I found myself writing about so he we go:

My accident was going on FIVE YEARS ago. jeez. I mean, a lot has changed, but a few things have specifically changed so I made a list: “who knew’s”.  Ok, who knew that one day Chris would be performing for tens of thousands of people, and actually I just talked to Chris, and he said he has performed for 100,000 people so… (EXCUUUSE me Mr. Medina). Who knew my brother, Dylan, would meet a girl on Facebook, fall in love, and be marrying her in South Africa next year. Who knew my sister Cheyenne would now live in Los Angeles. And who REALLY knew that at my mom’s house we would have a dog I ADORE. I pretty much hate dogs. Not really a “who knew”, but everyone DOES seem to be getting older, faster these days. A few months ago, Chris turned, (gasp) 30! And my one sister who I used to nanny at the time of my accident was only in kindergarten then and next year she is starting high school!

These two topics don’t necessarily go together, but, since I’ve (once again) waited WAY TOO LONG to post a blog… I finally am. AND! We are in the month of my birthday, so…

Every year my birthday party is a huge deal to me and every year there is a THEME. Well so far this year I've been keeping it a secret. But now, I’m revealing it...its 80s! Just need more ideas. I have some…I just need more. My parties are always fun so I do have that to live up to. On the subject of my party, my mom said one REALLY good thing-- and one kinda bad. The good thing is that we can most likely have the party at my house. And the not-so-good thing was the date the party would have to be on April 5th (two months away!) I guess think of it like two months to get excited…but I always say that my impatience is my worst quality and OH BOY will I be impatient by FREAKIN’ APRIL!!! That’s SOOOOOOOO far away!! I don’t even have Chris to get me through the time. We have a Facebook relationship right now. He’s in LA, finishing his second album. God, THAT ALBUM BETTER BE GOOD!! I keep losing him to LA for it! But back to my birthday party... one more reason I’m overly excited for the party to GET  HERE(in April, need I remind you)is that’s the next definite time I will see my really good friend, Mike. And by then I won’t have seen him for like 6 months AND OF COURSE Chris would be there and blah, blah, blah…now if only all of Facebook could go to the party too!!! I really need ideas for it!! one person suggested a rubiks cube cake and I’m pretty sure we will have that but I definitely need more…now even though every year I’m super excited about my birthday party, this year I’m EXTRA (notice the all caps really mean it.) Excited because of the theme! But do you all think you can help me come up with more ideas for the party? Maybe in the comments?!

How about an 80's prom theme, everyone wears their best or worst 80's prom dress or suit.

Love the idea for your birthday. You'll definitely have to have big hair and a bright headband. Hope you aren't in the hospital for anything serious.

80's Birthday Party! What a great idea. You will have to decorate using bright neon colors and play 80's music.
I also think of leg warmers, cassette tapes and disco balls. It would be so much fun decorating, Great blog.

I just thought of a great idea: 80's wine coolers.
I don't know if you can buy these anymore, but they would be easy to make using wine, soda, fruit juice.

Juli, you could do all kinds of things for your party, that's a really good theme. How about bringing back the scrunchie? Remember those? How about having your makeup done professionally with OVER the top crazy colors (how awesome would that be on pictures) and you could even go thrifting and buy a crazy dress like a 1980's bridesmaid gown with huge sleeves. Your eyeshadow could even match the dress but you definitely have to have crazy crazy eyeshadow and lip stick. How about make a playlist of 80s music? Maybe even have Chris play a set of 80s music.....you could even have karaoke. You could play a game by having an 80s themed scavenger hunt or trivia game. You could have a game where people win a prize for answering questions all about juli 80s trivia IE what is Julis favorite 80s TV sitcom? Etc. you could get a projector or if you have a big screen, have 80s music videos playing during the party. You could make up your own or look up a really cool alcoholic drink that is 80s themed like a drink called "The Moonwalk." You could buy inexpensive decorations and like party favors on orientaltrading.com that are 80s themed. For a funny game you could get a poster of Michael Jackson, get a blindfold and a glove (which you could have someone glue sequins on for you) and play pin the glove on the Michael!!! Lol Just a FEW ideas. Wish I could come from FL!!! Thinking of you pretty girl, hope whatever put in the hospital is over and you are well on your way to a full recovery and going HOME! <3

Karaoke machine with ONLY 80's songs. Big hair, spandex, glam rock posters. Pacman was big, as was Nintendo. Also, go to Shindigz and type in a search for 80's theme party, you don't have to buy from them, but just to get ideas on decorations. I'm sure it will be a great party. Good things come to those who WAIT. lol

I love the idea of an 80's themed birthday party! Being born in the 80's myself (1981), I remember all the typical things from the era during my years growing up such as cassettes, VHS, crazy curly hair-do's, big glasses, shoulderpads and neon colors everywhere lol. I'm sure your party will be awesome and I hope your hospital stay isn't because of anything too serious! Another great blog, looking forward to the next one! :)

An 80's party sounds AWESOME! You can do a PacMan or Rubik's cube cake. People could come dressed as either people from TV sitcoms or music artists of the 80's. However, you do it...we all know that it will be a HUGE success, because I've been to your parties and they ROCK!!

I love the idea of Chris wearing "MC Hammer" pants and 80's trivia games. It's a great theme for a party Juli! Who knew? This is such a positive way of looking at our past. I'm going to do that from now on.

Just think: 2 extra months to make sure your party planning is PERFECT. :-) All I can think of when I think of the 80's is Flashdance and ET (yeah, I know...completely unrelated). Scrunchies and leg warmers and off the shoulder shirts and little funny looking aliens. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it'll be fab!

I love the theme! There are so many classic 80s movies you can spin off of: http://www.imdb.com/search/title/?release_date=1980,1989&title_type=feature . Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, Say Anything, Labyrinth, Back to the Future. Love! You could name drinks or platters after lines or scenes in your favorite movie. or do something with party favors.

Hi Juliana!
I saw your fiancé, Chris Medina, at the Malou show here in Sweden (I'm swedish). After that I found your blog and I just want to say how inspired I am by your and Chris relationship. I really admire you and your love to each other. Keep on fighting, because no mather what you've been through, love and relationships are hard.
I send you and Chris a big hug from me in Sweden - because you and Chris shows the world what true love is.

I am soul mates with Chris Medina and am spending the rest of my life recovering from a Traumatic Brain Injury. It's been hard but not impossible.  And a lot of good things happened along the way.  Read about them, won't you?
